A New Aprroach to Acne and Surgical Scars

Laser resurfacing has become the buzzword for Acne Scar treatments and does result in a noticeable imorovement. The disadvantages are cost at up to 1,000 per session for a total cost of 5,000 and redness that persists for about a week each time. The more aggressive carbon dioxide laser requires time off, and redness which lasts for several months . The nd-yag lasr has no redness and no downtime and does result in a proven 35-40 per cent long term improvement. Additional improvement is obtained by combining laser treatment or substituting an aprroach of subcision of releasing the scars at the time of allergy testing for the long term filler Artefill. The Artefill is then injected 4 weeks later to raise the scars. Additional Artefill can be added 6 week later if desired. This approach has been succesful in significant improvement in people who have undergone previous carbon dioxide or fraxel treatments without any side effects. The cost of subcision ( scar release) and Artefill is ideal for depressed acne scars which are large enough to inject as well as depressed scars from surgery or accidents.A series of nd-yag treatemtns, subcision and Artefill costs about half of the cost of fraxel with comparable and sometimes better results.
